ComicGong is over for another year!
Held in the Wollongong Town Hall each year, ComicGong is a free-entry, kid-friendly, one-day con.
ACT Comic Meet had a table with members’ books, prints, pins, and badges. (We also gave away blank comic books to kids – we have to encourage future Australian comics creators, right!)
This year, the table had comics, pins, prints and charms by Gavin, Alice, and EmmJ, as well as anthologies and collaborative art books by ACT Comic Meet – anthologies that Comic Meet members contributed to – including (silver Ledger Award winning) ‘Neither Here Nor Hair’.
I always enjoy the con itself; and afterwards the catch-up with other comics-folk from interstate.
Today was both Free Comic Book Day and Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you).
Seven of us went to Impact Comics yesterday and drew ten-minute sketches of comic characters, superheroes, alter-egos, and unicorns. (So many unicorns.)
Check out the ACT Comic Meet instagram for pictures of more of the sketches from the day!
It was lovely to see everyone who made it to Meetup yesterday.
Next meetup will be at Guild – 2pm on 2 December.
We’re planning an end-of-year picnic get-together in mid-December. Follow the plans and conversation on Twitter!
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone between 2-4pm at the Guild on Sunday 4 November.
Come along, even if you’re not working on something, even if you don’t want to stick around for long, even if you already ate lunch… It would be great to see you!
Meetup will be on this Sunday at 2pm.
We’ll be at Reload Bar, somewhere toward the front.
Join us! We’d love to see you!

So, the Wig and Pen is not open on Sundays in their new venue. Boo.
Following discussion on Twitter, we’ve decided to keep the interim venue as the default Monthly meetup venue.
Next meetup is Sunday 5 April – Easter Sunday.
If you haven’t had enough chocolate, or if you are in the mood for a non-chocolate beverage, then come by Max Brenner Nishi from 2pm.
See you there!
The Wig and Pen has re-opened in their new location.
Meetup will be held at W&P once more.
